FESTIVALS IN MONGOLIA, 2018

As a country of rich natural and diverse cultural heritages Mongolia presents plentiful festivals and events all year around from winter: Ice festival, Camel festival, Tsagaan Sar etc… to summer: Naadam festival, Yak festival, Tsaatan festival and Golden Eagle Festival etc…
Winter in Mongolia is cold, but incredibly beautiful. It is a quiet season for tourists. In a country, still largely undeveloped, and with a rudimentary infrastructure, many parts of Mongolia are difficult to negotiate in the winter.

MONGOLIAN GOBI

Mongolian Gobi often evokes a sense of an alien world, a remote land marked by awesome and arid landscapes, torrid summers, frigid winters, striking modern life forms and unforgettable travel destinations. It’s fifth largest desert on the planet. The climate here is extreme as temperatures reach +40 C in summer, -40 C in winter and precipitation averages less than 100mn per year as much as rain shadow desert suffers from having most of its rain blocked by the Himalayas. However, in fact, The Gobi gets about 7 inches of rainfall each year.

ALTAI TAVAN BOGD NATIONAL PARK

Located at the western most point of Mongolia, this park on the border of both Russia and China has views of Kazakhstan from the highest peak of Tavan Bogd Mountains (“Five Sacred” in Mongolian). At the northwest end of this 630,000 hectare park, the Tavan Bogd Mountains contains the 5 highest mountain peaks in Mongolia, with the highest, Khuiten Uul (“Cold Peak’) at 4374 M (14,201 ft). The mountains are considered sacred to local Tuvans and Kazakhs. In the shadows of the Tavan Bogd are the Pontuninii Glacier
