Tour introduction
We will ride to Orkhon valley and Naiman Nuur/Eight Lakes, located in Khangai mountain range.
The Eight Lakes are called Shireet, Mukhar, Khaliut, Bugat, Khaya, Duruu and Khuis. Those lakes were created by volcanic eruption.
Orkhon valley, registered as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2005. There are many of Mongolia’s ancient monuments lie within its basin. There is Orkhon waterfall also called UlaanTsutgalan, formed by a series of volcanic eruptions about 20.000 years ago.
Day by day itineraries
You will be greeted by Amazing Mongolia’s tour, guide and transfer to hotel, Presentation of the travel program. Visit to the Gandantegchinleng Monastery, the first temple was built in 1837 and was center of Buddhist learning in the Mongolia, tour to the Zaisan Hill Memorial overlooks the city and offers the best panoramic view of the city and the surrounding sacred mountains and nearby Buddha park features a 23 meters huge statue of Buddha, and visit the Museum of Bogd Khan Palace of the last emperor-blade. The museum contains a rich collection of the king & queen’s unusual items they used in everyday life, gifts received from foreign dignitaries, the Buddhist leader’s valuable articles used as leader of Mongolian Buddhists, some of his childhood toys, a ger lined with the skins of 150 snow leopards and many more unforgettably interesting exhibits. Elsen Tasarkhai is a part of the 80 km long Mongol Els Sand Dunes. The nature in this area is really spectacular and great for relaxing. During the trip, you will also have opportunities to visit a local nomadic family, ride two-humped Bactrian camel, walk on sand dunes. Stay in ger camp
Today we will drive to Orkhon valley, registered as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2005, this Orkhon River valley is known as the cradle of the Mongolian civilization holding many of Mongolia’s ancient monuments lie within its basin. We will make around 5kms trekking. Stay in ger camp
After breakfast we will trek to the Bodongiin am. Stay in tents
We will leave the car and upload the luggage on the horse. Then, our trekking starts to Naiman Nuur- 8 lakes, located in high mountainous area and in the pineapple tree forest. This is very attractive and much fun to explore the nature beauty and wildlife and 8 lakes in the vast valley and mountainous area. Stay in tents nearby the Khuis lake
We will leave the Eight Lakes valley for the Baruun River. We will trek through a pass from where we’ll enjoy stunning views of the volcano craters and the picturesque eight lakes. The Baruun River runs through a forested and rocky narrow valley, joining with the Tanch River from the left. Today we trek downhill, descending to the confluence of the two rivers, which is located along a canyon. Stay in tent
Today we will have trek around 2pm. Then we will meet the drivers and drive back to Orkhon valley. Stay in ger camp
Drive to Karakorum in the morning and visit to Erdenezuu monastery. Karakorum is the ancient capital of Chingis Khaan’s Mongolia and was established in 1220 and served as the capital for 140 years. The Monastery was built in 1586 and is surrounded by a massive 400m X 400m wall. Only a few temples remain standing after the communist purges of 1930s. In previous times the grounds held over 60 temples with 10,000 monks using them for daily worship. On the way to Kharkhorin, we will hike to the Tuvkhun temple, located on the top of mountain. It takes about 4 hours trekking on 2 ways. The trail usually is muddy. Overnight ger camp
